So you took the cool Body Type Quiz by Dr. Oz and know which of the three Ayurvedic Humors dominates in your body. I am sure you’d be pretty eager, like me, to find out which foods to eat in order to bring about a state of Harmony among these three elements and enjoy a better quality of life.
We should thank Dr. Oz’s team for taking care of this issue as well. The very well qualified and absolutely gorgeous Dr. Kulreet Chaudhary has put together great meal plans and recipes for Vata, Pitta, and Kapha body types.
* The Ayurvedic Diet : Eating for Your Body Type —> Takes a look at the various Doshas/body types according to Ayurveda and prescribes useful Ayurvedic Cures to help harmonize the elements.
Vata predominant individuals are recommended to avoid dry crunchy foods, soda, and cold raw veggies. Triphala is suggested for helping address the imbalance caused by an excess of Vata. Please do check out the Vata Body Type Meal Plan. It advices us to eat warm, soft, oily, and cooked foods. You’ll also find the recipe for Kichri/Hodge Podge which has been specially created for Vatas.
For those of us who have an excess of Pitta – Spices, Alcohol, Coffee, Vinegar, and acidic foods are a big no. Coconut Massage should help. Pitta Body Type Meal Plan favors juicy, cooling foods with a high water content. Creamy Green Soup and Salad Recipe by Dr. Oz and Dr. Chaudhary would certainly be a great way to nourish your body.
Exercise and Guggul Herb is recommended for those of us who are predominantly Kapha. Kapha Body Type Meal Plan recommends warm cooked foods, and hot beverages. Spiced Steamed Veggies recipe for Kaphas is certainly a useful input.
